Lunenburg paintings and Christmas cards

Town of Lunenburg new small paintings and Christmas cards.

The old town of Lunenburg is one of my favourite places to visit and paint. Someone told me that if you look at Lunenburg from far away it looks like a candy town. I couldn’t agree more. Colourful houses from far away indeed look like candies or doll houses.

A UNESCO World Heritage Site and National Historic site, Lunenburg is one the most colourful towns in Canada. Houses are painted in every colour of the rainbow and more from pale pink (Wedding Cake House)  to bright green (Cilantro the Cooks Shop). This town is a feast for the artists eyes.

My latest paintings depict one of my favourite views of Lunenburg- the line up of the buildings along waterfront.

Illuminated Lunenburg restaurants at night look very pretty, like little  Christmas trees.

Here (above) is another line up of restaurants and Inns along waterfront. This past summer while participating in a plein air painting event, Paint Sea on Site in Lunenburg, I stayed at The Dockside Inn & Restaurant (big white building on the left). Our room had large windows all along the wall and an amazing view of the waterfront! Everything I could wish for!

Below are two 3X4 miniatures I’ve done. I really enjoy painting on a small scale. These two houses look so cute with the lights, just like Christmas decorations.

For my Lunenburg Christmas painting I’ve decided to paint Lunenburg’s most famous view of the Adams & Knickle red building on waterfront with the town behind it. I did little bit of editing to put the churches into my painting. You can also purchase Christmas cards and small prints with this image at Jenny Jib in Lunenburg.
